sarrois: would be worth the 25 % plus, best car we ever had......
margol11: Personally, I would prefer to see the interior instead of just moving car. What's the difference between California and simple Transporter from outside ? Rather irrelevant clip to my mind.
thetwopointslow: @timmythec73 I feel your pain so much... even though you wrote that 2 years ago ;)
This is probably the most perfect multi-purpose vehicle ever made, never to reach US shores
vaiol123: Anyone know the name of the song?
arokhampa: do they sell this in sydney
jeroguru: Menudo pepinazo!!!!!
wicked4realski: how can they make so ugly one beautiful legend
Tony Lin: anybody know the name of this song?
Tee Jay: @sparmtacus Yeah..... the Volkswagen California is not name Californe.
MELEMANA: What is this song please?
Maglevspiritualgeek: @JonnyCashmore The so-called Chicken tax was a 25% tax on potato starch, dextrin, brandy, and light trucks imposed in 1963 by the United States under President Lyndon B. Johnson as a response to tariffs placed by France and West Germany on importation of U.S. chicken. So you see the U.S. market does not receive the T5 range due to it being classed as a light truck, which thereby automatically includes a 25% extra tax (known as the chicken tax) on importation into the US.
Roland Walter: @onecreative1
As Maglevspiritualgeek said, the reason seems to be the 'Chicken Tax' in the USA. There is a special tax for vans like the T5 that are not build in the USA to protect the American market. For further information ask Wikipedia.
sparmtacus: The Cadillac Seville was never sold in Spain, does anybody else see the irony in this?
You made my day. I would really like to know if these guys at Volkswagen marketing know how silly this is.
A Han: Your home is where you are . Unless you live in California , the state . :P
S. Strauss: I saw this thing in a Berlin showroom 4 years ago! WTF I don't understand why they won't bring this thing to the states again!
Maglevspiritualgeek: freak the chicken tax
AshiKitty: @timbome I think the T5 is far spiffier than the t&c. I saw the concept for the microbus.. I thought it was kinda ugly inside.
Khalil Fattahi: There is a huge vacume in US market for this great Camper. I don't get it: Doesn't VW company want to sel and make money? Then bring it to US , where you will sell 5 times more than all of Europe market. People are buying used 2003 Westfalia campers in US for almost it's original price, when they have 100,000 miles on them. hear me VW?
Sundry Collectibles: How weird is it that I live in California and this thing is not available here...
