Michael Randlett: This wouldn't have happened if ford spent the money on development and testing. Its a stupid fk up that shouldn't be a common problem on any modern vehicle unless someone installed the spark plug wrong. Ford vehicles will just get worse with their decision to cap development costs on new vehicle designs.
Gene Eurich: Like every one else, I have owned Fords all my life. Coming home last night I blew a spark plug out of the motor. With all the coments and unsatisfied Ford owners you would think ford would do some thing to make it right. I know now why I see more and more chevs and dodges on the road. Ford use to be reliable and built for life sense then all that has happened was you pay more for less with Ford. What ever happened to built ford tough????? Thanks, Ford

This has happened twice now on my company 2010 E150. fist tab was 1600.00 plus 250.00 tow the second tab they had to pull the engine new head...still in the shop 10 days later the tab is over 5 grand. I personally will never buy a ford in my lifetime yes ford gets a lower case f for ford and BIG F for fail.
Jordan Hooper: Me and my buddy joke about this. We call it "SPE" or "Spark Plug Ejection". These trucks are HORRIBLE about it. Aluminum heads, bad idea on a truck. I have a 99 Lariat 5.4 and had a coil pack lay down, but it didn't do this. But my buddy's 2000 5.4 did. It's a common problem. Cost him $70 a pop to get em fixed, he did it 4 times and got rid of it. Almost sounds like too much compression and its stripping the threads? Idk.

1970gtosd: Ford engineers did not leave enough thread for the sparkplugs?!?! and expansion and contraction of aluminum & metal and eventualy the threads let go! You can find this and other problems @ ford modular engines wikipedia. there is a cam phaser problems with these engines also and livernois motorsports has a package you can buy from them to solve the problem!

Toby Keith: had the same problem on my 1997 Ford Expedition 5.4L Triton v8 but it was on a #6 Cylinder. I had to drive it to a mechanic and he re-threaded with an insert kit and charged me $360 . It was a shock but after all was done I realized that I should of noticed it before, because two days before an incident, I heard a loud ticking sound coming from an engine and when I drove my truck around town, it felt like the engine was losing power I thought i was imagining it but it happened.
