M3taCaf3: Hey everyone, check what batteries your key is using BEFORE ordering those
CR2016 batteries, my key actually uses CR1220 batteries (2 for one key!).
Victor Rodriguez: Hi Dave !! Great Instructional video,I have the same key remote for an e46
1999 Since a few days It all the times locks without flashing the lights
or sound and it wont unlock and the alarm doesn´t activates. sometimes it
comes all to normal and then again the issue :s do you think it could be
that the battery needs replacement. Thanks
DebenDave: @DebenDave really!!!
frogvillage: how do you reprogram it?
Pat Pat.: Great video really helped me out with my e46! Nice to see an instructional
vid by a brit too, trawled through loads of yank ones which didnt help at
all. Top walkthrough!
DebenDave: @harri38 You dont need fours keys but that is what the car is supplied with
when new. The car of course will work with just one key.
Mark Howard: My E39 2000 540i has the diamond shaped battery. It was designed with
screwing the owner in mind. The whole dang key is 'disposable' when the
battery dies. I am in the process of breaking it open, mangling the
contacts, and attempting to introduce a new Panasonic battery. Wish me

Dennis The menace: Hello Dave, thank you for the instructional video!Would theese steps work
for a 1997 BMW E38 as well?I only have the two battery keys, not the master
key, and the batteries have gone dead, leaving me with a unstartable car ;-)
Killian665: For you guys with the diamond key. You can't replace the battery. It uses a
rechargeable cell that recharges while it is in the ignition. There's no
way to replace it if it has gone bad, you have to get a new key.
DebenDave: Mnay thanks for that. The one I used was from a 99 so I guess they must
have changed them....thanks
wtfdude03: can any1 help? lol i have a 206, and my key cant lock the car through
signal i have 2 use the key manually, i this because the battery is gone or
do i need futher assistance ... lol please help i miss looking cool as a 17
DebenDave: I dont know where you are coming from this is the only type of key that the
BMW E39 was issued with at least in the UK and it does not charge from the
car as the battery is not of the rechargeable type. This is why I took off
your previous comments. Anybody else like to comment about this?
Koxz1: Hey please help me. Which battery model number do my remote key for my BMW
523i 96 2.5 automatic gear need?
TravisBurrell: umm.. I have an E39 M5. My key looks nothing like that? It doesnt have an
opening like that, and there is no light anywhere?
Yeroon: Thanks for sharing! :-)
Tsidibangster: Is this for all keys i mean e36 also?
arwenvalodifellatio: hi can i use defrent key instead my old key i try to change my car REMOTE
Joe Sixmore Lagswing: Thanks for this great tutorial, esp. part 2. Q: any chance space-wise CR2032
sticks also without breaking clamps?
DebenDave: See Part 2 of the video.
btbuk: done! very good video, works for e38
harri38: so with this car i need four keys
Ibrahim Beelut: so what size battery should i be buying if i have 1997 528i
Michael Gio Ferrigno: @DebenDave I have a 2002 E39 with the diamond shaped key. can you post
something for that or direct me to a known source. i've been looking
DebenDave: @TravisBurrell is it diamond shaped?
paul perkins: Dear Dave, Thanks for the BMW videos. Your simple explanations give me
confidence to work on my own 328 i, 1996 here in Florianopolis, Brazil.
John B. Irvin: Being in America. That make you buy a new key. No battery replacement. I
just paid $250 US. If the Germany can steal money from the US they will. I
don't think my next purchase will be a BMW.
syahya01: Excellent set of instructions. Can you do one for a BMW 525i, year 2003
model key, too? (US model, just in case European models have a different
kind of key). Thanks.
Dewaltd Gagiano: i replaced my battery for my key (bmw 525 1998) but i had the battery out
for a while, when i try to re-sync the key with the car, it doesnt work, i
have tried all day, with no luck. every time i complete the process, and
leave the bottom button, the red light just flashes for a while, but it
still doesnt lock or unlock. please reply as soon as you can with some
ideas that could work. thank you
metroman1991: Excellent video but i would like to say that in my 528i -96, the battery is
not the same, there is 2 smaller ones. So check what kind of battery you
got in your key so you dont make the same misstake to buy 2 of those CR2016
as i did.
metroman1991: If you have 2 smaller ones it is 2 cr1220.
