Breaking In Butterfly Goalie Pads

What do you think about this video?

clarence babin: U have to go to reebok man

BauerGoalie35: If i had a choice between the two, I would pick the Visions just cuz of Vaughn's reputation among the goaltending community. I've tried both on and the Visions feel heavier, but more balanced. The one80's are thinner and give you a better feel in my opinion. But the two are very comparable and if I had the choice, i would easily go with the vaughns.

Hockeygoesalltheway: thanks

jetpack1322: I just bought one 90s so should i keep the myflex rods in them or take them out when i use the bungee cords??

Penguingodzilla: Do you think I could do these with my Brians H series? What information do you need about my pads to judge whether this would work or not? I actually happen to have a bungee cord :D

Tommy Chen: This misshapes the pads and causes them to breakdown easier...

MrREACH247: you gotta make more videos man! im really liking them! was gonna go for the rx pads for next year but now im thinking differently

mikey v: do u like um ... I just got the one80's

TheLITTLEGUY09: very helpful

mike brisk: where you play?

Hockeygoesalltheway: can you remove the top nylon strap because i like my pags stiff so when i go into a butterfly a triangle opens up so if the puck hits my chest it falls right in

tyler seguin: thanks for helping me and also I got the bauer one80s and their amazing!

BauerGoalie35: yeah I'll do that, but i don't know what a knee Fairfax is lol. Did u mean like knee guards?

chris hunt: Go to reebok

IamTheWorstCoDPlayer: yeah, i only used it for hockey school so far, but i really liked it

Mookkandcariia: I just ordered a pair of Brians, and they are made for girls. First pair of custom pads so i am extremely excited.

Kyle Hollinger: He is just saying that because he has Bauer pads anyways i have the Reebok Premier 4 goalie pads and i play Bantam AA and i am loving them. i play a butterfly goalie style and they are fitting me perfectly. It has a Solidseal so when you do drop down in your butterfly it is a perfect seal at the bottom so NO pucks go through. also has a quick realese in the knee cradle and is really comfy and is faster to get down and up from your butterfly.i would strongly recommend the Premier 4 goalie pads.

Cassidy McKay: mine is the oppisit

Rosta Stefan: debil

BauerGoalie35: @immikeyv Yeah, I love them, but the one80's are a much better pad, I just didn't have the money at the time. But still a good pad

XxHoCkEyGoAliExX: I have the same pads an i love them but i kept my thigh guard cause to me it feels like the pad is a little more tighter

BauerGoalie35: i had that in my last set...but my style is based on big rebounds. I like kicking it to the corner and giving me time to recover. Once i get a lot faster, i might switch back.

Kyle Hollinger: HORRIBLE CHOICE MAN YOU WILL REGRET IT COMPARED TO THE P4'S!!!

BauerGoalie35: New Jersey

Brodie02: go with the one80s. Vaughn 9400 is a low level pad, even though it is vaughn, it will start to wear earlier then you would notice on senior level pads. Definitly go with the one80s.

camaha: hey kid, nice review. i break my pads in "one 100's" with a ratchet strap system the same as your bungee method. you an squish these babies right down for a great "S" bend....look into it. other then that i think what you are talking about is good information. you could review products for a career if you get fully into it. just one thing to help you out though. decorate your work station a bit, Canada Flag, posters, old gear and sticks, be creative. Good luck P.S to get faster i run 10km/ day!

BauerGoalie35: do you like the catcher? i just got it and it feels great so far

BauerGoalie35: IN WHAT WAY? THE PAD IS BENDING WHERE IT IS MEANT TO: AT THE BOOT, AND AT THE 3 POINTS THAT THE PAD ALREADY HAS AN INTERNAL BREAK! this isn't something you do every single day for the life of the pad. IMO this is waaaaay better than shooting pucks at them or tying the toe ties to the pad. Shooting pucks at them shortens the life of the pad.

Ajay Fernandez: IF you do this and have a wide a butterfly the pad will turn in giving u no five hole coverage

tyler seguin: do you think p4s or bauer one eighty pads are better

xGejwz: Why do all the Americans and Canadians hate stiff pads? In my opinion stiff pads seal better to the ice.

MrBaseballbeast09: Are the vaughn visions 9400 any good or Bauer one 80s

bruinsrapecanadians: I have the visions and they are great pads. Little stiff at first though.

Ajay Fernandez: you are breaking the inner core

romaDa: Just buy a hybrid pad with 2 outer breaks...

SuperHockeygoalie: I have Brians too, I'm not sure what series but mine broke in with about 3 times on the ice. It's better to break it in playing in them. Brians are really expensive so just break them in on the ice.

D Nonya: the downside is that its not more flexibnle at all.. its only shaped in a different way... you will over stretch the skin and when your pants are on and your leg locks you will have an ill fitting exterior shell to deal with as when the pad straightens out the skin will be like a fat person that lost weight..just my opinion

Thewinnipegboy: I think that the brians sub zeros are one of the best, they are really light, have a nice a shape to them and they are great for protection, but I'd still choose bauer over brians.

BauerGoalie35: @hockeygoesalltheway the top strap is connected but I have tried so many different strap set ups and if you know you aren't going to use it, u can either cut it, or get it so that it doesn't dangle (tightening it extremely close to the pad) and then either cutting the excess or wrap it with something like a rubberband

kev marg: Awsome tips. Had probs with my new pad braking in period. They were stiff so stiff so I couldn't move. Pucks were going in and once I was butterfly down, I couldn't get up. With your tips I am back to where I was ...Top goals against. Thanks a million.

IamTheWorstCoDPlayer: yeah i do

Callum Chantiam: I like how there is a break at the knee. I used to have the Bauer One80's but now switched my full set to P4's

tyler seguin: ok thank you for helping me Tyler Seguin

Penguingodzilla: Thanks for the help! Yes, my pads are pretty flexible already (careful, if you plan on getting them, they are SUPER stiff at first), but they don't close the five hole. I wonder if this will help? Anyways, thanks so much! I'll try it out asap

Chad mylipsky: Or u put it under a bench press

Unreal Goalie: Good video, i have the rx 8s i love them, except for the white part that seals the ice outside of the knee roll, goes inside the white calf part

tyler seguin: and also if you would get the one90s with my flex technology or premier 4s what do you recommend for a peewee AA goalie

BauerGoalie35: yeah and if you find something that works, let us know! Im sure ur not the only one with the problem and people would be interested in what you did

chris hunt: I used these if you have built legs there too tight just came back from meniscus surgery using these

BauerGoalie35: If your talking about where the shin stops and the foot starts (like where you ankle lies) I have noticed some pain there too. But i just wear my hockey socks and it doesn't bother me. You could always try putting tape there, or, if you have an old blanket, you could cut a piece off of that and either tape or sew it to the pad.
