1A Auto Parts: @Ron Coker You may be able to get one from the dealer. Hope this helps you
motorTranz: This doesn't show you removing the window regulator. I did it with my
regulator in place on my '96 Suburban. Thank you.
Vvykk: Your video does not show or even explain how to remove the lock mechanism
from the old handle. What tool is used to remove the lock?
Rich Stine: So wait, you removed the entire interior door panel, including the window
regulator, and manually pushed the window up and taped it so it would stay?
Richard Crissman: Great group of videos! Unfortunately I have to do all the above to my door
but certainly feel more comfortable since now watching it performed.
cr8mtr: Thanks, I spent 2 hours trying to get one back in on my 2000 C3500 work
truck, old style body. The trick is to remove the door latch & bring it up
into the rods on the handle. This is just one of the many reasons I quit
buying GM products back in 2002. My truck has had 5 inside door handles
and 1 outside handle replaced. That welded rear window guide is just a
very poor design.
Tom Gibson: Is there a name for the rod at 3:02? Mine is bent to hell and needs to be
replaced but I can not find it anywhere online. I've searched using the
term "door rod" but I have no clue if that is correct.
Ralph Bennette: Do you have video on how to replace the door lock mine is good but fell
inside the door
Ron Coker: I need to replace the broken clip on the back of the door lock cylinder
that is being pointed out during the video. Where can I get one?
Green Power Farm: Thank you very much sir !
Fermin Garcia: How would I open my door if both door handles dont work
Joshua Combs: What can I do if my interior door handle is broken along with the exterior
door handle does not work either? Am I screwed or is there a way to get the
door open somehow so I can replace them?
Chris Eager: Friggin' awesome vid! I was out there in the rain for about 3 hours
struggling to figure out how to connect the door handle and lock rods and
still have enough space left to get them back in the door...better luck
banging my head off a wall until I watched this. Thanks from Canada.
T-BONE L: Which hole are you putting the rod in? Also do you press that clip all the
way down before putting the rod in? I put the rod in the top hole and I
could unlock my pickup, but when I tried to lock it, it was stiff then it
popped (assuming the clip came off because they key has no give anymore)
1A Auto Parts: Unfortunately we are currently doing videos for other vehicles but we will
possibly be able to do a video for something like this later on.
1A Auto Parts: Near the beginning of the video we show you how to remove the rod from the
left hole on the handle, and also how to remove the clip that holds the
rod. The rod and clip should be placed back in the same location on the new
door handle that you receive.
1A Auto Parts: @GrooveyBeach Done that myself to. Make sure the door is unlocked, pull up
on the door handle and flip the latch up.
radcam69: FYI, this works for a 2000 Tahoe old body style. (Z71 as well)
jrpurdy1964: You are a lifesaver! I was wondering how to properly do this and your
videos are exactly on time!
1A Auto Parts: @johnson3369 It sounds as though the tumbler may have broke, or you may
want to take the door panel off to see if anything connecting to the door
lock has come loose.
350AmericanMuscle: I have a question, are these door handles common to break on these trucks?
I have a 96 gmc sierra and my drivers side handle makes a clicking noise
when pulling the handle all the way up when opening the door. Is this a
sign that my handle is on its way out? It still functions properly and
locks, but makes a clicking noise that you can feel when opening the handle
all the way up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
1A Auto Parts: @waterstreetpc They way that the rods line up with the latch may be
different. It's not something that we've tried here. Not 100% sure if this
would work for you.
1A Auto Parts: Yes you would need to transfer the key lock cylinder to your new door
handle. We carry the door handle seen in this video on our website with
free shipping in the lower 48 states. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts: Follow this video and you should be fine. There may be a small clip that
locks the rod into place on the door handle. They aren't hard to open, or
abec224: great video thank you. I
ray miller: guys the door on 92-95 seiarra wont open have remeved panal and metal panel
on inside seems the latch i frozen or stuck onlt thing i can think of is to
sawzall the latch in detween the door to open it help
VictornMaya Garza: I followed this video to find that my door latch was not broken (although I
broke it in process of removing it. The video was helpful in the eventual
replacement of the latch. However, the inside rod is not opening the door.
It is attached to the latch assembly, but there seems to be too much play.
I tugged on the rod with the handle removed (how I broke it) and the door
wouldn't open. It does open from the outside. What am I missing?
candancemh: Do you have to get a new key when you install a new door handle?
webrik33: i replace the actuator and the outside door handle. white greased rod clips
and connections. everything worked great until today. temp down to 25
outside and door lock sluggish to open/close. key worked but took some
force. this was my problem that led to me replacing actuator.
350AmericanMuscle: @1aauto I'll try the lithium grease and see if it makes a difference. What
would i have to look out for when a door handle does in fact break, like
are there any warning signs before it just breaks?
1A Auto Parts: You're welcome, thanks for watching. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts: It could be an issue with the motor of possibly a bad connection too. You
may want to check the wiring to see if there are any loose connections.
1A Auto Parts: The new tumber would come with a new key.
1A Auto Parts: @350AmericanMuscle It could be making a little noise due to things drying
out.You could try to put a little white lithium grease on the handle inside
of the door where the rods connect to it. That might help a little.
1A Auto Parts: @zaewon At the current time we do not have a video that shows this on a 91
1A Auto Parts: Hi Jeremy, You may want to make sure that all of the clips are in place and
are holding the rod in position. It may be possible that one of the clips
are worn, causing the rod to break free. If this is the case, you should be
able to buy some new clips at the dealer. They shouldn't be a whole lot of
money. Hope this helps you out.
johnson3369: your videos are very well done. my question is that I have a 97 sierra and
I cant unlock my driver door with a key. It just freely turns but I can
lock and unlock with the power locks. I seen a clip in this video that I
wonder if it could have broke?
Jay Hague: maybe im missing something but I cant find the video on how to remove the
inner door panel (metal portion) to replace the exterior drivers door
1A Auto Parts: You shouldn't have to, you should be able to service it like we did in the
Chris Moreno: 1aauto where is your video on removing the interior door panel? looks that
youtube has removed the video response link. your videos have helped a lot,
just need the interior door panel removal. thanks 1aauto!
mibbyalina: Hi I have a 99 Suburban and it was stolen a while back they broke the
outside door handle and the door lock cylinder .I was wondering if i should
replace both parts and for the door lock cylinder where can i find it so it
can match my key..do I have to go to the dealer or can I go to any store to
buy it? Thank You for your help
1A Auto Parts: @coultrs At the current time,we do not have a video that shows that
Joshua Combs: I have a 2000 K3500 Crew Cab... The driver side rear door handle broke..
Would this video be the same steps to fix mine?
1A Auto Parts: Hi AL, We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to
replace the rear door handle on your 1991 GMC Suburban, however if you take
the door panel off from the inside, you should be able to access the bolts
that hold the handle on from inside the door. Hope this helps you out.
brian fowlie: good vid...but does not go into detail how to get to the window guts out
lol ...so you cant change handle without doing soo?
1A Auto Parts: @drellim50 If you can't get the latch to release on the inside of the door,
you may want to bring it to an auto body shop. They may know of a trick to
get it to open for you without causing any further damage. Hope this helps
1A Auto Parts: If you tug on the rod with your hand the latch should open, if it does not
you may want to see if it has gotten stuck somehow. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts: @jrpurdy1964 Glad we could help. Thanks for checking us out.
