RealRawResults: Definitely, but generally speaking it's not necessary to go for high-protein, even from plant foods, and for many people would be harmful. If you're going to eat heaps of protein, health wise, you'd be much better off getting it from plant foods vs. animal foods. But eventually, too much protein is just too much protein.

RealRawResults: Quinoa gets about 15% of it's calories from fat, so if you got all of your calories from quinoa that's where you'd be at. I wouldn't be concerned about that as it's not that much higher than you should be at. But realistically you're not just going to eat quinoa, so if you're eating things like fruits, veg, yams, etc. it'll probably run closer to 11%-10%. Right within range. No worries!

RealRawResults: People can definitely see improvements in their health when they cut out the processed stuff and replace it with vegetables.You can do better.I do wonder why those like Dr. Atkins and Stephen Byrnes,prominent low-carb advocates, died of severe health challenges. Maybe too many organic bananas? :S Others like Sally Fallen and Barry Sears still overweight after following the diet for years...wrong body types?I'm doubtful. Cows eat grass 365 days per year and have more blood types than humans do!

RealRawResults: High-calorie, high carb fruits like bananas, dates, mangos, persimmons, grapes, etc. fit the bill real nicely. For some people it really goes down easier in smoothie form. I typically do 3,000 + cals from fruit but if it's a really long day on the bike I'll go 6,000 +. LOTS of fruit! ;)

komposteramig: One reason to why high protein diets can make you feel more energetic is that they make your body acidic, and so your body will take calcium from your bones to make your blood alkalized again. The calcium in your blood makes you feel energized, but this process will lead to osteoporosis in the long term. Just be careful :)

Javier Sanchez: I think you are on dope I have lost 85 pounds in 9 months was able to walk half a block I am up to 3.5 miles day feel good.. no more fatigue and my health has improved dramatically my bad cholesterol low and my good cholesterol is were a suppose to be .So you are wrong

When I switched to Vegan diet fir my crohn's he switched toil for support :) He was still eating meat maybe once a week when he was with the kids nite around me. Anyway, he told me today that he doesn't want it. He tried to eat an egg, his favorite food, and threw it out! Yay me, we both win. Now to work on the kids.

Zzonked: I disagree with what you're saying, I feel a lot more energetic and healthy on a low carb diet. I feel when you don't spike your insulin constantly and get more calories from protein, I feel fuller for longer and generally happier. I've gone back to higher carb now to try to gain more weight but it's just left me depressed. Will be going to high calorie low carb soon now, will let you know how that goes. :)

Aaron Kay: Nice! I've been a high carb vegan for almost a year now and I still binge out at night. But it's always good food so I'm not gaining weight. I know I shouldn't eat before bed to let my body just rest but I can't help it. I need to eat more during the day I guess. I always run at night then get back and want to chow down is another reason though. Anyways, gj on losing 100lbs! I lost about 40 it's awesome, carbs ftw.

RealRawResults: Terrible idea. Low carb and drinking heaps of water will leave you in total metabolism suicide with the iciest cold hands/feet you could imagine. High carb with just enough fluids will keep everything rocking. :)

I just sincerely hope that you take a look at some of the latest research and real-life examples and consider that maybe eating heaps of burgers and bacon and eggs isn't the best choice for your health. Dr. Atkins didn't die of a saturated fat deficiency/sweet potato overdose....

TheOnlyDzire: I'm all for high carb! But I do know healthy people who do high protein. Bowulf's comment below is a great example. Perhaps it has to do with the three body types? Those who thrive on high carb, those who thrive on high fat and those who require a balance. Can't remember the scientific names right now. How do you address successful people like bowulf?

plecto1234: The glycogen can't be stored without the presence of water. If you stop eating carbs, the body will reduce the glycogen storage back to what it considers normal, that's why you lose water. If you were dehydrated, you would feel thirsty. The body can easily convert protein and fat to glucose to replenish the glycogen storage, you don't need dietary carbs for that. Also, if you don't eat fat, you will die :)

Fed Ex: I was on a ketogenic low carb diet for a few months. My body was running on stimulants and, as a result, I got anxiety attacks from burnt out afrenal glands. Ever since I switched to lfrv, the attacks went away and I don' get hungry. It's funny because I thought the protein and fatswould keep me satiated.; however, its the fiber and sugar from fruits.
