Michael Hayes: I have my first Mustang at 56 years old. I have the 3.7 and it's my daily
driver. Yeah grew up with all the old muscle cars. I was always curious
how the 3.7 did against the 315 HP GT. This looks pretty much like I
thought it would be. Close but not quite there. We don't know what gears
the V6 had here, if it was the 2.73, there's your difference. Change out
gears and it's probably at least a tie. Folks, 315 versus 305 HP is really
nothing in the scheme of things so it comes down to how they are equipped.

2 - 1970 Buick GS Stage 1
3- 440 GTX, Road Runner, 'Cuda and Challenger
4 - 1969 Mustang 428 CJ
and a crapload of other vintage muscle cars.
Blacked out Pony: I actually had Manny at the dealorship do it in the performance shop, it
Dyno'd at 301 at the RW, most likely 275 or so at the crank,I put on the
CAI and the racing tune first and it went to 334 I believe, after I added
the larger throttle body and let it breath better with a big unrestricted
exhaust it jumped between 360 & 380 depending on how how the engine was so
after my Accel coils I gained about 5, it advertises 10 but I didn't see
that big of a jump, so when I had a different facility dyno the car they
came out with just shy of 385 so ya, on a great day with the right
conditions I could see a 390, a boosted V6 will see a 475 with no other
mods, so after a procharger I should be well above 500, hopefully!

Gothic Barry: Believe it or not, but I bought my V6 Mustang because i actually drive it
on the roads and not on some stupid 1/4 mile straight piece of asfalt.
So yeah, a V8 might be a bit faster. It still doesn't mean that a V6 is a
slow car by far. And sure... A V8 is louder than a V6 (if you keep them
both stock). Now this might come as a shocker, but I didn't buy my V6
because I wanted it to beg for attention as I'm driving by. I personally
have enough selfconfidence to not need a loud exaust for that.
This ''It has to be a V8 to be a Mustang''-bullcrap always makes me laugh,
cause in a way it points out 'the American way' of thinking: "If it's
bigger - it's better.'' And what's even funnier is when many V8 owners
automatically think that just because they have a V8 it makes them a better
driver. Hate to burst your bubbles, but... NOPE, it doesn't.
And to all the V8 owners who drive automatic and act like they are 'king of
the road' and talk down to V6-owners I can only say 1 thing:"1st stop
driving the handicapped way and learn how to drive like a real car
enthusiast should." (Since driving automatics is mostly just done in the
rest of the world by handicapped, old or extremely lazy people.) And don't
give me that ''Automatics are faster on the strip''-kinda bullcrap, because
cars were not meant to drive straight for a 1/4 mile over and over again.

the sound and power they have. yes got 2011 3.7
V6stangman2007: Also the v6 has a weight advantage already with the back seats, etc. and
really the original mustang was an inline 6. So the v6 is truer to the
original than the v8's ever were. Plus the mustang is not neccassarily a
muscle car, it's a pony car. Lightweight, handling car, that's quick.
David Seidel: Not bad at all for a 305HP V6. The only reason the V8 really won was due
to 1. better gear ratio (3.31 V8 vs 2.73 V6), more HP/TQ (315 HP/325LB TQ
V8 vs 305HP/280LB TQ V6). I think the reason the V6 kept up was due to
weighing less by about 250-300lbs and having the 6 speed vs the 5 speed.
I'm sure if you slapped a 3.31 gear ratio in the 2011 V6 it would beat the
2010 V8 no questions asked.

easily beat gt's, and just because u have a gt doesn't automatically make u
a good driver. I've beat gt's cause the freaking idiots couldn't shift and
they miss 3rd. That's actually happened to two separate guys I've raced.
Wildland North: Tune, intake, and exhaust on the V6 and it would beat the GT. The new 3.7
liter is pretty quick miles ahead of the old 4.2 V6.

The 2010 V8's gotta nicer sounding exhaust note, has better front/rear
styling and it's faster. Did I mention it's faster, but the 2011 V6 hangs
in there a close 2nd. Not too bad overall, plus the V6 gets 7 more mpg
highway because of the 6th gear. They're both quick, agile and handle like
a champ. Bottom line is, if you're going for the thrill of a Mustang, you
gotta get the V8!

complete opposite reasons a V8 owner would. I want a V6 that doesn't mean I
want a Toyota Camry and there are millions of others just like me! Ford
will not be banishing the economy motor anytime soon nor have they since
1965. If you want V8 exclusivity and think the V6 is a joke buy a corvette,
it's never had a V6. The 2011 V6 is fast, handles great and looks amazing.

ive had 4 total. any ways im a college student.. the higher payment,
insurance and gas for a v8, and it does make a difference. i budget myself
and i simply cant afford! im content, for now. but why can't people just
appreciate the cars. 2011+ v6 good engineering put to work 305hp. i dont
consider it a muscle car, its a pony car and its great for daily driving
considering its hp. hopefully later on in life i can get a shelby or boss!

Micah Myricks: People get v6 Mustangs because they want them. A real car guy/ girl would
never make fun of anyone and their car. Yeah they may have different styles
but they both share something--a passion for their car. These new v6 motors
can push out a lot of power, it's just new technology. Don't get me wrong,
I love a v8 but these new v6 motors are a force to be reckoned with. The
average joe would who would probably never do anything more than intake,
headers, and exhaust followed by a nice 93 octane tune would definitely
love the v6 or the v8. I'd opt for the v6 just because its different,
lighter, and it sounds unique.

them, and if you calculated acceleration timing you will realize that it's

mustang is an everymans car. wanna look good drivin around, but dont care
for the extra grunt, v6 is your ticket, want that muscle, the sound, and

This coming from a person that could have bought a 2010 GT premium, a 5.0
premium, base 5.0, but settled for the V6 to get my rear wheel drive manual
sports coupe legs first. Get what makes you happy, and drive it like you
stole it lol!
The 2010 GT is closer than some would think to the v6. .1-.2 difference
stock with Performance pack v6 and stock 2010 GT in the 1/4m. The V6 needs
Gears, similar tires and a tune, and they will run similar. And yes there
are differences between individual gears, and final drive. So with the
torque and HP advantage of the GT, the 6 speed automatic still needs 4.10
to keep up with the earlier torque curve of the 2010 GT, but the higher
revving 2011+V6 stays in peak HP longer. Makes for a very good comparison
of a high revving v6 vs. torque carrying GT. the automatic V6 is a pig
