Robert Cunliffe: I made this beam for my daughters birthday. This was really helpful and
your instructions and material details were really helpful! The only power
tool I have is a drill driver and I just used a hand saw. I bought some
quick clamps like yours and it would have been difficult without these. The
hardest bit was getting the carpet stuck down firmly and accurately and I
ended up testing out a few different glues first - I couldn't find your
carpet glue, and I actually used a spray-on contact glue which seems to
have worked well. After buying the timber from a yard I was surprised to
find that the dimensions weren't what I asked for - 1 by 4 was actually 3.5
inches wide and a bit shallower - apparently 'normal' for finished timber
pieces? Anyway, thanks for your great video!
Natasha Boursaw: that works its awesome it like a real one

about screw sizes, but I didn't see an answer. Also, I don't see carpet
like yours on the Lowes site, do you recall what it was called? Due to
storage considerations, I am making two 5 foot sections with a double
2x3x6' connecting core so that the beam can be disassembled when not in

unsure of- did you glue the carpet to the foam as well as the sides? I
glued the foam to the wood and the carpet to the foam, tomorrow I will glue
the sides. Thanks for sharing this, its certainly the best design I found.
Giving it to my daughter for Christmas.
